Delaware Electric Cooperative has a solar electric system on its roof. The system was installed at the Co-op’s headquarters in Greenwood, Delaware in May of 2010. The solar electric system consists of 26 SunTech solar panels capable of producing 210 watts of electricity. The entire system can produce up to 5.46 kilowatts of power per day. Officials at the Delaware Electric Cooperative expect the solar electric system to prevent 4.9 tons of Carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere each year.
