Pat Dorey was elected as Chair of the Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) Board of Directors at the board reorganizational meeting following the Co-op’s 2021 Annual Meeting. Dorey has served on the board since 2004 and represents District 4.

Dorey, a former public school teacher, retired University of Delaware assistant dean, and academic counselor at Delaware Tech, makes DEC history as the first woman to serve as Board Chair.

In addition to her service to DEC, Dorey is the immediate past Chair of the Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) Board of Directors, where she served as Vice-Chair from 2019-2020 and as Chair from 2020-2021. A graduate of the University of Delaware and Salisbury State University, she looks forward to serving DEC’s membership in her new role.

“I am proud to be a part of a Co-op that remains faithful to our mission of providing excellent service to our members,” Dorey says. “That is very important to me, especially as a member myself. I value DEC’s commitment to ensuring that our members enjoy safe, reliable and competitively priced energy services. DEC has amazing employees and members, and I will continue my focus on doing what is best for our membership.

Dorey lives in Millsboro, DE with her husband, Terry. They are blessed with two adult children and five grandchildren.

Delaware Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility powering more than 108,000 homes, farms and businesses in Kent and Sussex Counties.
