Co-op Provides Flexible Payment Plans

The COVID-19 crisis has impacted the communities we serve in numerous ways. As a member-owned and member-focused cooperative, we are committed to help our members recover. On March 19th, DEC temporarily suspended disconnects for non-payment and late penalty fees for members to help reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The State of Delaware moratorium on disconnections has now been lifted for COVID-19 related accounts that are past due. As life slowly begins to return to normal, DEC will resume disconnections for all accounts in August of 2020. This ensures that we keep our Cooperative running smoothly. If you find yourself unable to pay your bill, we are here to help. DEC is offering repayment plans to those affected by the pandemic. Please give us a call at 855-332-9090 as soon as possible.

We will work together, and we will get through this. Charges incurred by members after the State of Emergency has been lifted will be subject to disconnection as usual.

Additionally, members are encouraged to reach out to local agencies who may be able to provide assistance. Please consider contacting these agencies, even if you have been denied assistance in the past. Eligibility criteria for assistance has been expanded due to COVID-19.

DEC Takes Other Steps to Protect Members and Employees

To protect the public and our employees from the possible spread of COVID-19, the DEC lobby and cashier windows closed on Monday, March 16th and will remain closed until further notice.

The drive-through pay window on the north side of the building will remain open from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Members can drop off new service documents in our drop-box located by the drive-through pay window 24-hours a day.

Members can pay their bills with a credit or debit card by calling 888-999-0957. Members with general questions about their bill or new service may call 855-332-9090.

Members can pay their bills by mailing a check to Delaware Electric Cooperative, P.O. Box 600
Greenwood, DE 19950

Electric bills can also be paid by signing up for an online DEC Smarthub account. You can sign up for an account by clicking HERE.

Public safety is our top priority at Delaware Electric Cooperative and further actions may be needed should the virus spread further. DEC is also taking steps to limit employee travel and vendor visits to the building. All employee and public events have been canceled through the end of April. Many employees are working from home and our building is being frequently disinfected.

DEC will continue to provide reliable electric service during this uncertain time. We ask for the public’s patience and understanding as we take steps to protect the health of our employees and our members. Any updates related to the impact of COVID-19 on Co-op operations will be posted on this page.
