ATLANTIC CITY, NJ-Delaware Electric Cooperative linemen answered New Jersey’s call for help in late June, after a line of severe thunderstorms knocked out power to hundreds of thousands people in New Jersey, northern Delaware and Pennsylvania. Four Co-op linemen, Phil Collison, Brian Downes, Shane Payne and Greg Williamson along with Manager Steve Huffman assisted crews from Atlantic City Electric with restoration efforts from June 25th through June 30th.

Linemen received many kind comments from consumers in the affected areas and worked very long hours to restore power to thousands of New Jersey residents. Crews worked to fix downed lines, caused mostly by damage from falling trees—the National Weather Service reported wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour during the storms.

Attached are photos of lineman Shane Payne working to restore power and a general shot of DEC crews at work.
