DEC Launches New Number

Delaware Electric Cooperative Announces New Phone Number

For Immediate Release: May 21st, 2012:

GREENWOOD, Del.- Members of Delaware Electric Cooperative will now be able to call one number for all DEC services and questions. The Co-op’s three numbers have been consolidated and DEC’s new number, 855-DEC-9090, was launched in May to better serve members.

By dialing the new number, members will be able to check their billing information, report an outage and access a variety of co-op services.

In the past DEC members called three separate phone numbers, depending on the county where they lived. There were separate numbers for New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties.

According to DEC President and CEO Bill Andrew, “The launch of this single number will eliminate any confusion and simplify the process for members to get in touch with their co-op. This is an effort to provide the best possible customer service.”

Members will still be able to call Delaware Electric Cooperative’s old numbers to reach a customer service representative, but are encouraged to call 855-DEC-9090.

“This will be a big change for some members who have used our old numbers for so many years. However, we are confident that members will appreciate being able to dial one number to access our services. This change is about what’s best for our members.” said Andrew.

Delaware Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility serving 84,000 member-owners in Kent and Sussex County, Delaware. For more information visit us on the web at or or follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
