Notice of 2019 Annual Meeting!
If you’re a fan of great food and entertainment, then we’re sure you’ll have a lot of fun at our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, August 13th. Registration and our famous fried chicken dinners will be served starting at 3 p.m. and our Business Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Please note, doors will open at 3 p.m. Members will also be treated to music and a community fair. Voting will also take place for our Board of Directors, who represent members when important decisions at the Co-op are made. All of the action takes place in air-conditioned buildings at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington. Dinner will be served in the Centre Ice Rink and the Business Meeting will take place in the Dover Building. We hope you can make it!

Board Election At The Annual Meeting
In connection with the election of three (3) Directors scheduled for this meeting, the following candidates for Directors of Cooperative District Numbers 1, 4 and 7 have been nominated by petition pursuant to the By-Laws. Since there are no contested director elections, and no proposed by-law amendments, in order to save considerable time and expense, the election of directors for this meeting will be by voice vote during the business meeting rather than by written ballot or voting machines. Below are the candidates running unopposed for office.
DISTRICT 1 - Charles Towles. Jr.
Charles Towles, Jr. is retired with over 40 years in the electrical industry. Charles has been a Board Member since 2006, serving as District 1 Director for the past nine years. He has attained the Director Certification and Gold Leader status level. Charles, and his wife Carol, reside in Smyrna. They attend Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna and enjoy motorcycle riding with Christian motorcycle groups and driving their RV across the country. He is a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge and Masonic Lodge. Charles is a committed, experienced and dedicated team player, who believes in “Putting Members First.”
DISTRICT 4 - Patricia S. Dorey
Pat Dorey graduated from Millsboro Public School and is an alumnus of the University of Delaware and Salisbury University. Pat has served on DEC’s Board since 2004 and is the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer. she also serves on the Board of the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives. She is retired from the University of Delaware where she served 18 years as Assistant Dean and now is a part-time academic counselor at Delaware Tech in Georgetown. She enjoys service to Zoar United Methodist Church, Dover District and Peninsula-Delaware Conference. Pat and her husband, Terry, have two married children, Darren Dorey and Denise Bateman, four grandsons and one granddaughter.
DISTRICT 7 - William W. Noel, Jr.
William W. “Woody” Noel, Jr. is the incumbent in District 7 and has served on the Board since 2008 He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan College and is retired from the Seaford DuPont plant after 35 years of service. “Woody” serves on the Board of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. He resides near Fenwick Island and enjoys spending time with his four children and ten grandchildren.
