2019 Rate Increase
Delaware Electric Cooperative has approved increasing the power cost adjustment (PCA) from 1.6 cents per kWh to 2.4 cents. The cost to purchase and produce power for members is increasing and, as a not-for-profit, these additional costs must be passed on to members. The average residential member using 1,000 kWh per month will see an $8 increase in their monthly electric bill. DEC members will still be paying among the lowest electric rates in the region. A: The Cooperative is governed by a Board of Directors, who are elected by Cooperative members. The Board is responsible for considering any rate changes and then voting upon the proposals. The Board voted on these proposed changes at a meeting held on April 17th at 6:30 p.m. at DEC’s headquarters in Greenwood, Delaware.
