Preparing for OutagesWhat happens at the Co-op when your lights go out?
Most outages occurring in Delaware Electric Cooperative’s service territory are caused by severe weather, especially thunderstorms and heavy snow and ice. Malfunctioning electrical equipment and even animals can also lead to outages.
How Power is Restored
During an outage DEC crews work to restore power to the largest number of people first. After transmission and distribution lines are fixed, the Co-op’s crews then fix problems in smaller neighborhoods or problems at individual homes.
