Receive Up to $2,000 in Billing Credits!

Members who have purchased or who are considering the purchase of a home battery storage system are eligible for billing credits through our Beat the Peak with Batteries Program.

Delaware Electric Cooperative members have a new way to Beat the Peak!

Members who have installed — or plan to install — a home battery storage system can now help keep DEC's electric rates among the lowest in the region through our new Beat the Peak with Batteries program. Participants agree to discharge energy stored in their batteries during periods of high electricity demand, helping reduce the Cooperative's power costs when energy is most expensive.

Members who participate may be eligible for up to $2,000 in bill credits, paid at the end of the summer season. Credit amounts will be based on the size of the battery system and the amount of energy dispatched during Beat the Peak alerts.

The program is compatible with virtually every major battery manufacturer, including FranklinWH, Duracell Power Center, Canadian Solar, EG4 Electronics, Intertie, Tigo Energy, SolaX, Solis, Point Guard/Sigenergy, RoyPow, Hoymiles, Sol-Ark, RCT Power, APsystems, Savant, SMA, Elastic, MeterHome, Fronius, EcoFlow, Storz Power, Bluetti, Lion Energy and Tesla.

Members can enroll through the app or website they use to manage their battery system. Tesla battery owners can find more information here. Those who cannot find enrollment information through their battery management portal should email [email protected] for assistance. Members currently enrolled in our Beat the Peak with Thermostats will be automatically unenrolled from that program when they join Beat the Peak with Batteries.

DEC is continuously exploring innovative ways to keep electricity affordable for the members we serve. Beat the Peak alerts are issued when the cost to purchase or generate electricity is at its highest. During these periods, participating battery owners can power their homes using stored energy instead of drawing electricity from the grid. This reduces the amount of power DEC must purchase or produce during costly peak-demand periods.

By participating in Beat the Peak with Batteries — along with our other Beat the Peak programs — members are helping lower wholesale power costs and keeping electricity more affordable for everyone served by Delaware Electric Cooperative.
