Since 2008, Beat the Peak has saved members more than $42 million! This year, participation in this quintessential DEC program — which for over a decade has helped the Co-op keep electric rates affordable — is more important than ever. As energy costs across the country continue to rise, DEC needs members’ help to keep our cost to produce power as low as possible.

To do this, the Co-op encourages those we serve to conserve energy during peak alert times, when the cost to produce power is highest. Members can save energy in a variety of ways, including delaying the use of major appliances, opting to grill dinner instead of cooking inside, or even simply adjusting their thermostat by a few degrees. Members who use a Wi-Fi enabled thermostat or who have an EV can actually earn money in the form of billing credits by participating in our Beat the Peak with Thermostats and Beat the Peak with EVs programs.
