Since 2008, the Co-op’s Beat the Peak program has been saving members money by alerting them to the times when energy costs are highest, and asking them to conserve electricity. This summer, the program reached another money-saving milestone, that has resulted in member savings of over $40 million! We are so proud to be able to help keep energy rates affordable for our members, and none of it would be possible without your continued efforts. Over the years, many of you have received alerts through our Beat the Peak home indicators. Unfortunately, due to their reliance on expensive outdated technology, DEC is discontinuing the indicator program. As of October 1, indicators will no longer work. Members can recycle their indicators at the Cheswold Collection Station in Dover or at the Jones Crossing Landfill in Georgetown, or they can drop their indicators off at one of the many weekend recycling events held across the state. For a full list of recycling events and more recycling information, please visit www.dswa.com today! The indicators can also be thrown out. Instead of the indicators, members can receive their peak alerts on DEC’s Beat the Peak app. Download the app from the app store on your mobile device and never miss another peak alert. DEC also plans to allow members without a smartphone or internet access to sign up for peak alerts via phone calls next spring. Thanks for Beating the Peak!
