Capital Credit Checks Bring Cheer to DEC Members This Holiday Season

GREENWOOD, Del. – Delaware Electric Cooperative employees have been busy distributing capital credit checks to member-owners across central and southern Delaware. In October the Co-op’s Board of Directors announced $4.1 million in capital credits would be returned to members from 1991, 1992 and part of 2010.

Capital Credits are essentially the Delaware Electric Cooperative’s profits. Because the Co-op is owned by its members, the profits are returned to the member-owners.

Member-owners began receiving capital credit checks or credits on their electric bills in late November. The last payments should be handed out in late December.

On Friday December 16th, Co-op President and CEO Bill Andrew hand delivered a capital credits check to Greg Lowman, Plant Manager of Baltimore Aircoil in Milford, Delaware. Lowman was handed a capital credits check for more than $18,000. The plant makes commercial cooling units and employs about 400 people.
