The Cooperative Difference at DEC

Delaware Electric Cooperative prides itself on providing the people and places we power with the most reliable energy possible, and offering the lowest electric rates in the state. At DEC, members matter most, and that’s why we continue to invest in innovative technology, system upgrades and our vegetation management program – ensuring our members enjoy the record reliability they have come to expect from the Co-op. 

Having a member-focused mission also means that DEC’s commitment is to the people we serve, not to making a profit. As members, those we serve actually own the Co-op, and therefore share in all the benefits that reliable, affordable Co-op power has to offer. As a return on their investment, DEC returns millions of dollars to members each year in the form of capital credits. Over the past 20 years, we have returned more than $97 million. Members become eligible for capital credits after being served by the Co-op for at least a decade.
