DEC Has So Much to Be Thankful For!

November is the beginning of the holiday season – a time many associate with food, family and above all, gratitude. This year, Delaware Electric Cooperative has so much to be thankful for, and you can bet that we are certainly counting our blessings!

For starters, DEC is grateful for our employee family, who’s hard work and commitment to keeping member lights on is an inspiration all year long. In 2022, the Co-op set records for system reliability, reducing the number of outages members experienced by 20 percent, and restoring power faster when outages did occur. This year, the Co-op has continued its efforts to provide members with the most affordable, sustainable and reliable power possible.

Next, we never forget to recognize our good fortune of working within the framework of a member-owned, not-for-profit business model. This means that unlike for-profit utilities, DEC’s end goal is not about what we can gain, but about what we can give back. Our mission is to provide quality electric service, which means the revenue we receive is always used to benefit our members. Whether that looks like upgrading our system to support reliability, providing a return on member investment in the form of capital credits or everything in between, DEC employees are happy to work for an organization that upholds the ideal of “members first.”

Speaking of members, we are always and beyond thankful for you! Your trust and support in our ability to provide the people and places we power with reliable electric is what makes our work worthwhile. This year, the Co-op’s American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) score was the second highest for Co-op’s across the country, as well as DEC’s second highest score on the index ever! As we prepare to enter 2024, know that Co-op employees will always work to provide safe and sustainable electric to those in our service territory, and seek innovative solutions to improve your overall member experience.
