The Importance of Home Energy Audits
Dec. 29, 2025 | Co-op News
You’ve had your HVAC system serviced, caulked and sealed around your home’s doors and windows and even adjusted your thermostat by a few degrees. If you’re asking yourself, “What else can I do to make my home more energy-efficient?,” DEC has a solution for you — schedule a home energy audit!
Provided through the Energize Delaware Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program, these onsite-assessments offer members the chance to meet with an energy advisor to identify their home’s areas for improvement when it comes to energy efficiency. Once your energy advisor has assessed your home, they will provide you with their list of improvement recommendations, some of which can qualify for significant rebates. In many cases, the energy advisor can even perform up to $250 worth of their suggested changes or installations following their assessment. Depending on the size of the home, most members can schedule an energy audit for as little as $50.
This winter, think outside the box of traditional energy-saving tips and schedule a home energy audit. Learn more about the process and how to sign up by visiting the Energy Savings page of our website.
