Last Call for Scholarship Submissions
Feb. 21, 2025 | Co-op News
Scholarship applications are still being accepted from high school and home school seniors who intend to pursue higher education studies. These scholarships are awarded by the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) Education Scholarship Foundation, which, since 2001, has provided more than 1,000 scholarships to graduating high school students totaling more than $1 million.
Any students graduating in the spring of 2025 whose primary residence is served by the Co-op are eligible to apply for scholarships in the amount of $1,000 — some receiving up to $1,500 — to be applied to a two or four-year college or trade school. The Foundation’s board of directors will select recipients based on these weighted criteria: financial need at 40%, academic achievement at 40% and the applicant’s personal statement at 20%. If students are selected to receive a scholarship, funds will be sent directly to the educational institution they plan to attend, and must be used toward tuition, student fees, room and board, or textbooks.
If you have questions about the application process, please email [email protected]. The deadline to submit an application is April 1. Selected students will be notified no later than June 1. Apply today by visiting VMDAEC's website: vmdaec.com/scholarshipfoundation/.
