Members Save Big with Beat the Peak Program
Sep. 24, 2025 | Co-op News
Thanks to your efforts, DEC’s Beat the Peak program has saved members nearly $4 million this summer! As a not-for-profit electric utility, our mission is to provide our members with the most reliable and affordable energy possible, and Beat the Peak is just one of the ways we achieve that goal.
While the Co-op is proud to offer this program, a lot of its success is thanks to you — our members! Your continued participation is essential to helping us keep electric rates affordable for everyone on our lines. To participate, all you have to do is conserve energy when DEC issues a Beat the Peak alert, which members can receive by downloading the Beat the Peak app to their smartphone. Members can save energy in a variety of ways, including adjusting their thermostats by a few degrees, delaying the use of major appliances during peak times, turning off unnecessary lights, and more. Members can also save by participating in DEC’s Beat the Peak with Thermostats and Beat the Peak with EVs programs. Typically, peak events occur during the summer season, and Beat the Peak has never been more important.
With your participation, DEC can continue to offer the lowest electric rates in the state. Your Co-op will always put people ahead of profits, and programs like Beat the Peak prove that commitment. To learn more about Beat the Peak, visit beatthepeak.coop today.
