New Year, Same Commitment to Members!

Since Delaware Electric was first established in 1936, our focus has always been on providing the people and places we power with quality electric service. Without our members, there wouldn't even be a Co-op! In the 1930's, for-profit utilities saw little value in electrifying rural America, so it was up to those living in those communities to find a solution for themselves. Thanks to a group of local farmers who pooled their money and resources together, DEC was created and has continued to empower the lives of those in the communities we serve. Being a DEC member offers benefits beyond those of a customer at a traditional utility. As a member-owner, your voice and investment in the Co-op helps shape our organization's future for generations to come. Because of you, we are able to continue to update our system, using innovative technology to maintain and improve reliability. As a return on this investment, members receive a portion of the Co-op's margins — better known as capital credits — each year. Members also help shape the direction of the Co-op through participation in our annual board elections, and by voting on amendments to DEC's bylaws. For 88 years, the Co-op has been proud to serve our more than 117,000 members, and we look forward to continuing to make good on our commitment to provide you with the most affordable, reliable electric service possible heading into 2025!
