Technology has changed dramatically since our Beat the Peak program was launched in 2008 and that means it’s time to say farewell to our popular Beat the Peak indicator program. More than 60,000 of our members have used the indicators over the years. For our newer members who may be unfamiliar with the program, the indicators plugged into an outlet in your home and would light up when it was time to conserve energy during Beat the Peak alerts. If you still have an indicator, please keep it plugged in until October! The indicators will continue to work in most areas until October 1. Members with indicators in the Georgetown, Woodside, and Millsboro areas are most likely to experience issues with their indicators. While we don’t want to end this popular program, the technology used in these devices is now antiquated and very expensive to maintain and operate. This fall, members can drop the indicators off at a DSWA electronic recycling site, or simply throw them away. While the indicator program is ending, Beat the Peak is more important than ever before. We encourage all members to download the free Beat the Peak app, which will notify them the moment we issue an alert. You can also sign up for email notifications at beatthepeak.coop. Thanks for making this program such a success over the years!
