On Tuesday, August 12, our DEC team welcomed thousands of our members and their families to our Annual Meeting at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington. Those in attendance enjoyed a delicious fried chicken dinner, accompanied by live music performed by the Salty Soles Duo. During the community fair, guests also had the opportunity to meet with representatives from 19 local businesses and nonprofits, as well as watch lineworker demonstrations on electrical safety.

During the business meeting portion of the event, members heard from DEC’s President and CEO Rob Book, who discussed several of the Co-op’s achievements over the last year. Book announced that the Co-op broke records for reliability in 2024 and continues to maintain the lowest rates in the state, and highlighted summer Beat the Peak savings and the return of $10 million in capital credits last November. Book also announced the Co-op’s most recent accomplishment: DEC has been ranked as the most appealing brand among America’s residential electric cooperatives, according to the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Utility Brand Appeal Index Study. A musical intermission was provided by the Jones Boys. Members in attendance also participated in a voice vote to re-elect directors Tom Brown (District 7), Pat Dorey (District 4) and Charles Towles (District 1) in this year’s un-contested board election.

Thank you to all of our members who were able to attend this year’s meeting, and for helping us celebrate our Co-op!
