A Brief Look Back At Cooperative History
Can you imagine growing up in a world without electricity? Most of us take the service for granted, but in 1936 few areas of rural Delaware had electricity. Farmers pooled their resources together and founded Delaware Electric Cooperative, a non-profit utility which electrified rural Delaware.
A lot has changed since those first poles were placed in the ground more than 75 years ago. Who would have thought we’d communicate with members on sites like Facebook and read meters through signals sent through the power lines?
While technology has transformed our business, our dedication to provide exceptional and friendly service remains as strong as ever. You own your cooperative and we hope you’re as proud to be a Cooperative member as we are to serve you.
