Delaware Electric Cooperative crews spent the Christmas weekend helping to restore power to electric co-op members in Virginia and New Hampshire. DEC employees answered Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) call for help – on Christmas Eve morning more than 8,000 SEC members were still in the dark. Operations supervisor Steve Huffman accompanied linemen Shane Payne, Dave Morgan, Jake Hudson, and Dale Breeding to Virginia. After restoring power to all Southside Electric members, the DEC team assisted New Hampshire Electric Cooperative in their restoration efforts. At the height of the winter storm, 20,000 co-op members in New Hampshire were without power. This is an example of what’s called co-op mutual aid, where co-ops help each other during major storms. This is a big part of what makes working in the electric cooperative industry so special. DEC is proud to lend a hand in helping our extended Co-op family.
